Upcoming Conference Will Prepare Letter to the Next President on US Human Rights
The International Bar Association will hold its annual conference in Washington, D.C., from September 18-23. Registration fees are hefty, but for those who can afford it, there is quite a bit of human rights programming, including this intriguing program on Monday, September 19, from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m.:
“Human Rights in the United States – a letter to the next President from the international legal community
Presented by the IBA’s Human Rights Institute
By the end of 2016, the United States will know who the next President will be and they will take office in January 2017. This
session will take a detailed look at the human rights situation in the US as discussed by a distinguished panel. All participants at the session will be provided with a template open letter to the new President and will be invited to make suggestions on what to include in the substance of the letter, which will be completed by HRI staff on the basis of the suggestions made at the session and then presented as an open letter to the new incumbent.”
